Seared steak is among the best meats to cook on the stove. It's slightly fatty, tender, and with just a few ingredients, it's incredibly simple to make.
Combine the marinade ingredients in a bowl or zippered bag.
Marinate the steaks in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Once you are ready to cook your steaks, pat them dry with a paper towel.
Heat a 12" skillet on medium-high heat. Once hot, add a tablespoon of butter and carefully sear the steaks.
Cut the other tablespoon of butter into four pieces and place a piece on top of each steak. Flip them after 3-4 minutes and then cook them for an additional 2-3 minutes on the second side.
Let the meat rest for at least 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
The steaks should easily lift off the skillet. If you notice any resistance, allow them to cook a short while longer before flipping gently with tongs.
