Double Chocolate Cast Iron Brownies

- 10" skillet
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 stick butter ½ cup, melted
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup chocolate chips I use semi-sweet
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Combine all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Mix well.
- Add melted butter, eggs and vanilla and mix with a hand mixer just until everything is well incorporated.
- Add chocolate chips and give a quick swirl to mix into the batter.
- Transfer to a 10" cast iron skillet and bake for 25 minutes.
Notes
- Preheating your cast iron skillet for a few minutes in the oven before adding the batter helps achieve a nice crispy crust on the edges.
- Overmixing can lead to dense brownies. Mix until the ingredients are incorporated to maintain a light, fudgy texture.
- Since ovens vary, check your brownies a few minutes before the 25-minute mark. The toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs, not wet batter.
- Let the brownies cool slightly in the skillet before slicing to allow them to set and hold their shape.
